Chayla Haynes Davison, PhD is a sought-after higher education scholar, speaker and consultant for her expertise in cultivating antiracist, equitable and inclusive organizations, academic settings and workplace environments. Diverse populations of industry and institutional leaders, researchers and educators have drawn upon her research to facilitate organizational, methodological and pedagogical shifts toward Black liberation and racial justice in academia and the workplace. Chayla’s research centers on the experiences of Black women and girls, critical and inclusive pedagogies, and critical race theory- and intersectionality-informed research methodologies. Her research appears in such premier journals as the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA} Review of Educational Research and Educational Researcher, as well as the high-profile Change Magazine. The timeliness and appeal of Chayla’s research is captured in her three co-edited books, entitled Interrogating Whiteness and Relinquishing Power: White Faculty’s Commitment to Racial Consciousness in STEM Classrooms (Peter Lang), Race, Equity and the Learning Environment: The Global Relevance of Critical and Inclusive Pedagogies in Higher Education (Routledge) and Black Liberation in Higher Education: Considerations for Research and Practice (Taylor Francis). She is the recipient of several top honors in her field. Chayla was awarded the 2022 Christine A. Stanley Award for Diversity and Inclusion Research in Educational Development by the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network and named the 2020 junior scholar recipient of the Mildred Garcia Award for Exemplary Scholarship by the Association for the Study of Higher Education’s (ASHE) Council for Ethnic Participation.  

Dr. Chayla Haynes Davison is an associate professor of higher education administration and past recipient of the Robert and Mavis Simmons Faculty Fellowship at Texas A&M University. Prior to the professoriate, she held senior leadership positions in student affairs, applying anti-racist administration, teaching, and mentoring with diverse populations of students, staff and faculty, across multiple institutional types and within a changing higher education landscape.
